With music and direction by Nicola Piovani, a libretto by De Cataldo and direction by Massimo Popolizio, the opera will make its debut at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in October 2026, while in Rome at the Auditorium Parco della Musica ‘Ennio Morricone’ it will be staged in 2027. The announcement of the commission for the new opera was made jointly by the Fondazione Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, of which Carlo Fuortes is superintendent, and the Fondazione Musica per Roma, chaired by Claudia Mazzola.
