La nuova terra

Leone travels the heart of the Amazon convinced by his cousin Nur, to whom he has never been able to say no. He is soon immersed into an out-of-time dimension, where people heal through ceremonies in which ayahuasca, the liana of the dead, a psychotropic decoction with numerous therapeutic effects, is consumed. Through mental trips and within his own body, through communion with the spirits of various animals and revelatory dialogues with the all-too-human voice of ayahuasca, Leo will land in the toughest battle there is, that against himself and the demons he has spent a lifetime fighting. The lessons he receives will make him question everything: his job as a television writer, his worn-out relationship, his identity which is built around a toxic masculinity, and the very values of society that, in the face of a foretold climate catastrophe, chooses to blindly go on toward self-destruction. Leone's is an unintentional shamanic journey that is both hesitant and often, despite himself, comic. He will hit rock bottom before he rises again, but having had the courage to face reality will perhaps teach him to live in harmony with his nature and with Nature.
