In My Own Words
In My Own Words is a work dedicated to reading and much of the implications that relate to it. Accustomed as we are to hearing about writer's block, the text confronts us with the far more dramatic paralysis of the reader, inviting us to embark on a path of reappropriation of the act of reading. Words, the true protagonists of the narrative, become living flesh and tools with which to repair the crack that distances one from the book object. Between bibliographical references and personal suggestions, she attempts to understand the genesis of a crisis that has fragmented her entire inner world.
Benedetta Palmieri, with the sincerity that is characteristic only of the best pens, denounces the dichotomy between author and reader. Without filters, she presents us with her relationship with the books of her past and the role they have played, involuntarily forcing us to do the same.
