Loneliness
‘These stories do not allow for consolation, nor do they claim to teach. They require complicity.’ A woman who has had many men without loving any of them. A teenager who communicates only on the internet. An anorexic girl whose mother does not listen. A woman who loses her daughter to illness and her husband to despair. Four true stories to probe the depths of one of the greatest paradoxes of the present: loneliness. Because yes, even when we are surrounded by people, even in a world that wants us to be constantly connected, somewhere, under the skin, we all feel a dull emptiness growing, a sense of isolation that does not seem possible to eliminate. And while it is true that today we enjoy an incredible abundance of tools to communicate, we lack the essentials to say and feel. Through the anonymised stories of his patients, Paolo Crepet explores the wreckage of our desertified affectivity and reminds us that, to defeat loneliness, we need to break down the walls of silence that divide us once and for all.
