Days of Rage
Sometimes, to understand the norm, it is necessary to know the exception. For this very reason, to understand the human being, Paolo Crepet and Giancarlo De Cataldo decided to tackle one of the most horrible and disturbing crimes: matricide. Drawing on their professional experience - one as a psychiatrist, the other as a judge - they bring to light four cases that history has chosen to forget. And it is here, in the face of this unfathomable evil, that the two authors have to make a choice: to talk about matricide, they have to abandon the aseptic language of the chronicle, reject the salutary distance of the essay, immerse themselves in the mud of these stories, inhabit them, tell them. Abandoning statistical data, judgements and moral precepts, Crepet and De Cataldo explore the lucid cruelty of these acts, trying to understand the deep unease that runs through a part - how substantial? - of the world of youth. Only in this way is it possible to talk about what lies behind such a despicable act, the precondition of matricide: indifference, the opposite of love.
