Annalena Benini
Annalena Benini is an Italian journalist, columnist and author. She has been writing for the daily newspaper Il Foglio since 2001, focusing on books, culture, people and stories. She has founded, supervises and contributes to the weekly supplement Il Figlio: stories of parents and children drawn up by narratives and confessions of writers, letters, essays and novels. Since 2021 she's the editor of the Foglio Review, the monthly magazine of Il Foglio. She has been a contributor to Io Donna, the weekly supplement of the newspaper Corriere della Sera, and Grazia. She wrote and hosted Romanzo italiano on Rai3 and Pietre d'inciampo on Rai Storia. In 2021 she received the Premio Viareggio Repaci for journalism. She has published La scrittura o la vita. Dieci incontri dentro la letteratura (2018, 2024) and edited the short stories collection I racconti delle donne (2019). Annalena (2023) is her first novel. In 2023, together with Francesco Piccolo, she wrote and directed "Le mie poesie non cambieranno il mondo" (My Poems Will not Change the World), a documentary about Patrizia Cavalli, produced by Fandango. Since 2024 she is in charge of the direction of the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino.
